A novice's guide to the wide world of Linux
okay, I suck at this review thing
so, I am going to stop unless I get some impute saying that they want to see it on the site again
instead, I’m going to talk about how to make Linux your’s
basically, making it “pretty”
I run Kubuntu with KDE 3.5.10 (haven’t jumped on the KDE 4.1.1 band wagon yet) and I have to say, the default is kinda boring.
I will try to do one post a week about a new thing you can install to make it your own
I will be doing this with my own installation of Kubuntu
I will not be doing this in virtual box
I will make a new log in and explain things, as if starting from scratch
everything I install should work in all *Debain/Ubuntu forks and those running * KDE 3.5.10
(before I get to far into this, I would just like to say that I already have Gnome 2.22, KDE 3.5.10, KDE 4.1.1, Emerald/Beryl/Compiz (aka Compiz Fusion) already installed on my computer, so I may be able to do some things you might not be able to)
I will explain things so the not so tech savy can understand them, and so that those who are can appreciate the nice little tutorial that I will be writing.
I currently have kde and emerald running side by side, with compiz running with minimal effects (but I gotta have my wobbly windows and desktop cube) with my nice little avant dock running
I’m not sure if anyone from just looking at it could now tell which distro it is anymore
I have made it mine and I like it this way
that is, until next month when I decide to change the color scheme
